Flower Festival Booth
A great place to see everyone in town and enjoy the comaraderie while selling over 6,000 churros to them. Profits go to support the AAUW Educational Foundation which supports post graduates studies for women, especially in their last year of thesis work. Grants to branches with community projects are also awarded. Our own branch received grants for Summer Art Classes for students in the Lompoc Schools
International Day
AAUW holds an annual International Resource meeting each January with guest speakers focusing on International topics. Pictured here is Jan Keller from the 2006 International Day meeting. Also see the picture album from the 2008 International Day meeting.
Tech Trek-A Science Camp for Girls
Tech trek is a week long Science Camp for seventh grade girls on one of the five California campuses. It is designed to develop interests, excitement and self-confidence in young women, just when they are about to make major decisions in their lives. Most important, campers interact with women who model a high degree of science, mathematics or computers expertise as part of their daily lives.
Local Scholarships
Support for high school girls about to start their college education is available through scholarships offered by AAUW Lompoc-Vandenberg Branch. An annual fall wine tasting is the main fund raiser for scholarships. The 2011 scholarships went to Kelli Jean O’Connell of Cabrillo High and Gold Vang of Lompoc High. In the picture are Scholarship Chair Joyce Barker with Kelli Jean O’Connell and her mother.
